Biographical review on litterateur Adhikari launched

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, June 25: A biographical review on literary figure Bishwa Raj Adhikari entitled Anubhuti Ka Vivid Prabahma (in diverse flow of feelings) has been launched today.

Edited by Mamata Mridul, chairperson of Nari Shrasta Samaj (Women Creative Writers’ Society), the biographical review sheds light on author Adhikari’s life and his creative outputs through critical pieces from 35 different writers involved in literary field. 

The book was launched amidst a special function organized by the Nari Shrasta Samaj.

Speaking after the launch of the book, chairperson of the Samaj, Mamata Mridul expressed her happiness over the chance she got to edit the book and launch it as the book was about senior litterateur Adhikari who has been contributing to Nepali language, arts and literature even while living abroad.

She said that Adhikari had even encouraged her for creative writing and pledged that the Samaj will come up with more review books on literary figures.

There are 35 review articles in the book. The biography includes review of 15 books written by author Adhikari, who is also a Professor of economics in Oklahoma University Community College.

Literary personality and former editor in chief of the Gorkhapatra daily, Shreeom Shrestha, lauded the Samaj for honouring author Adhikari, a true literary figure, while there were different 'dramas' being staged in the name of writers and literature.

Senior playwright Ashesh Malla highlighted on studying deeply the eastern philosophy so that literature is linked and informed with the stream of civilization that has been flowing for thousands of years.

"No matter where Buddha was born, we should feel that he gets birth in our hearts," he said emphasizing importance of philosophy in literature.

On his part, author Bishwaraj Adhikari, stressed on the need for moving forward eastern philosophy in different sectors of studies including philosophy and literature. Literary figures Ramendra Koirala, Sharad Pradhan, Radheshyam Lekali, Kalyan Panthi also spoke in the programme shedding light on different aspects of creative writing of author Adhikari and his life.
